Hand therapy and custom splints

Rehab for the hand, wrist and elbow, with custom splints made to fit, at our Dearborn and Sterling Heights offices.

What is hand therapy?

Hand therapy is specialized rehab for the fingers, hand, wrist, elbow and arm. It helps you regain movement, strength and use after an injury, surgery or a condition like carpal tunnel syndrome, often with a custom splint to protect or position the hand while it heals.

Your hand therapist

Amanda Schatzberg, MSOT, OTR/L, a Michigan-licensed occupational therapist, provides hand therapy and custom splinting at our Dearborn and Sterling Heights (15 Mile) offices. Read more about occupational therapy.

Conditions we treat

  • Hand and wrist fractures, sprains and tendon injuries, including after surgery
  • Carpal tunnel syndrome and other nerve problems
  • Tennis and golfer's elbow
  • Trigger finger, De Quervain's tendinitis and arthritis of the hand
  • Hand and arm injuries after a car accident or at work

Custom splints

A splint made for your hand fits better than an off-the-shelf brace. Splints can rest an injured area, protect a repair after surgery, or gently improve motion. Your therapist adjusts the splint as you heal.

What a visit involves

Your first visit measures motion, strength, sensation and swelling, and looks at the tasks you find hard. Treatment may include exercises, scar and swelling care, splinting, and practice of daily and work tasks.

How to start

Call (313) 572-0810. Bring your referral or surgeon's instructions if you have them, and your claim number after a car accident or work injury.
