Can I get a CT scan at urgent care in Dearborn?

Yes. Specialty Urgent Care at 13530 Michigan Ave, Suite 120, Dearborn, MI 48126 has a CT scanner and X-ray in the building, and a radiologist reads every scan. Walk in Monday to Saturday, 9 am to 6 pm. A provider examines you first and orders a CT or X-ray only if you need one.

Call 911 or go to an emergency room for chest pain, trouble breathing, signs of a stroke, severe bleeding, a serious head injury or loss of consciousness. Specialty Urgent Care is not an emergency room.

How it works

  1. Walk in. No appointment or outside referral is needed for the urgent care visit.
  2. Exam first. The provider examines you and decides whether you need imaging, and which kind.
  3. Imaging in the building. If it's ordered, your X-ray or CT scan is done here, without a trip to a hospital or imaging center.
  4. Read by a radiologist. A radiologist, a physician who specializes in reading medical images, reads every CT and X-ray.
  5. Next steps. Your provider explains the plan, and refers you on if you need a specialist. Pain management, spine care and physical therapy are in the same building.

X-ray or CT?

An X-ray is the usual first test for a possible broken bone. A CT scan uses X-rays from many angles to build detailed cross-section images, so it shows bone and soft tissue in more detail. Your provider chooses the test that answers the question about your injury or illness.

Before your scan

  • Tell the staff if you are or might be pregnant. CT and X-ray use radiation, and your provider will weigh that.
  • Bring a list of your medicines and allergies.
  • Remove metal such as jewelry, belts and glasses when asked.
